The cowboys are back in town!
Easy to spot (but usually when it's too late!), they could be towing a trailer without a tachograph, have no insurance, or even be carrying a vehicle that is too heavy for their trailer or car transporter.
Whatever the charge, it is a minefield when trying to select a reliable and legal transport service. The good news is that Car Transporter Quoter can help. Only approved companies receive your request for quotes and we only work with quality UK car transport companies and car delivery service companies.
Car Transport Quoter delivers through the weather
It's been a terrible few weeks on the roads of Britain. Snow and ice have meant that many routes have been blocked or severely congested, causing businesses to suffer as staff fail to make it into work, or customers stay away in favour of a nice warm home.
As you might expect, the weather has also had an adverse effect on car transportation, and many of our customers have suffered delays, or in some cases cancellations.
What is a single car transporter?
A single car transporter can carry one vehicle at a time. The main types of single car transport service are:
- a dedicated single car transporter which has a drivers cab and flat bed deck at the rear
- a towing vehicle (often a 4x4 vehicle) and a purpose built car trailer
There are many different car transporter types such as a Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Renault Master. Trailers come in all shapes and sizes. Popular brands are Brian James and PRG.
Some single car transporter operators tow a trailer allowing two cars to be carried at once. For this combination the key consideration is the weight of the two vehicles being transported must not exceed the permissible gross vehicle weight of the 'towing vehicle'.
The term gross vehicle weight or GVW is the maximum weight of a towing vehicle plus trailer weight plus the vehicles being carried. This is what the towing vehicle can carry safely on the road. The GVW will be listed in the owner’s manual and is normally shown on a plate or sticker fitted to the vehicle. The plate or sticker may also show a gross train weight (GTW).
